Northern Ireland's most awarded distillers
David and Fiona Boyd-Armstrong are the husband and wife team behind Northern Ireland's first award-winning craft Gin distillery, which is also the home of Northern Ireland's most awarded Gin to boot!
The duo have an entirely unique set-up that you can find discreetely tucked away within 500 acres of County Down's historic forests and gardens. Hand crafted from copper, their stills use an infusion of old and new technology which work together seamlessly to produce the signature Short Cross smoothness that had us instantly swooning.
David says "Building our distillery and creating Shortcross Gin has been a true love affair for both of us. We wanted to rekindle a distilling tradition that spans back centuries in Ireland. It has taken time to build and create our distillery, to travel the world and craft our skills."

Hello Angels, we think summer has finally arrived and so that means, gin and tonics at the ready!!
We are serving our Shortcross gin with tonic with wild foraged garnishes from our forests.

Hello Angels.
We wanted to share with you a little more about our gin and distillery and where we take our inspiration from. We have shared some pictures from summer, here at our home. The weather is a little colder now, but we will share some winter pictures soon also.
This is the little green door leading through to our walled garden, in this garden we have many fruit trees that grow by them selves and also many of the apples and pear trees grow up and along the walls, almost like a vineyard.

As a nice refreshing cocktail for the summer, we would like to introduce you to the...
Shortcross White Angel
-50ml Angels’ Edition Shortcross Gin
-100ml Sauvignon Blanc Wine
-15ml Simple Syrup
-Mint leaves approx. 8-10 leaves
-Lemon wedge
Add mint and syrup into a shaker and smash releasing the mint flavour.
Add the Angels’ Edition Gin, wine & ice, Shake for approx. 15 - 20 seconds.
Strain into a wine glass, with a couple of ice cubes, squeeze the juice of a lemon wedge & enjoy.

We have a 250 strong gin collection and (hands down) Shortcross is our all-time favourite. Just ordered bottles of this to be served at our upcoming wedding!

Simply gorgeous! Tried it without any garnish and was superb, added a bit of lemon and it was elevated! One of the best gins I have ever had (In my opinion!) Will certainly buy this again

a very nice gin but no better than Tanqueray and more expensive
Happy new year everyone and we hope you all had a fabulous festive break!
We just wanted to take the time to tell you about the contents of the Christmas Cracker Gift Set.
Starting with the Blue cracker we have our Shortcross Angels Edition Gin which is exclusive to Naked Wines Angels and includes Australian Lemon Myrtle for a real citrus twist.
Following this we had our Green cracker with our Shortcross Irish Garden Gin which again is exclusive to Naked Wines Angels, and is inspired by the forests and gardens of our home with a rich fruity heart.
Next up in the Red Cracker we have our Shortcross Rye & Malt Irish Whiskey. This which has been distilled at our distillery from a mash bill of malted barley and malted rye before being aged for a minimum of 5 years in two cask types. The first is ex-Boubon barrels and the second is virgin Chinquapin oak form Missouri. When married together the casks produce a rich and decadent whiskey, perfect for celebrating the festive period.
Finally in the Blue cracker we have our Shortcross Distiller's Duo Irish Whiskey. This is a blend of Single Malt and Single Pot Still Irish Whiskies, both aged Bourbon and Virgin American White Oak for a minimum of 5 years. This whiskey deliveres sweet malt and orchard fruits on the palate, with a rich and creamy finish. It has also just won Best Blended Irish Whiskey at the 2024 Irish Whiskey awards ;-)
