About the spirit
Blended exclusively for Angels by Northern Ireland's most awarded distillers
- Husband and wife team David and Fiona Armstrong forage wild clover and juniper from their sprawling 500-acre historical estate in Co. Down, Northern Ireland, before drawing fresh water from their historical well to make their handcrafted Irish craft gin.
- Like the name suggests, their Angels' Edition Gin has been blended especially with Angels in mind. To add a lovely balance and make the local botanicals sing, David blended Australian lemon myrtle for creaminess and Grains of Paradise for a sweet and spicy kick.
- The gin mellows in copper pots for one-and-a-half days, infusing the oils from the botanicals and giving the gin a round, smooth texture. Beautiful aromas of orange peel, lavender, star anise, cardamom and chamomile are in perfect harmony with the fresh citrusy flavours. Add a twist of lemon to make the vibrant flavours 'pop'.

Meet the spirit maker - David Boyd-Armstrong
David and Fiona Boyd-Armstrong are the husband and wife team behind Northern Ireland's first award-winning craft Gin distillery, which is also the home of Northern Ireland's most awarded Gin to boot!
The duo have an entirely unique set-up that you can find discreetely tucked away within 500 acres of County Down's historic forests and gardens. Hand crafted from copper, their stills use an infusion of old and new technology which work together seamlessly to produce the signature Short Cross smoothness that had us instantly swooning.
David says "Building our distillery and creating Shortcross Gin has been a true love affair for both of us. We wanted to rekindle a distilling tradition that spans back centuries in Ireland. It has taken time to build and create our distillery, to travel the world and craft our skills."

Dreadful - wasted spirit. Classic example of trying to "gild the Lilly" by adding ingrediants that have no place in a bottle of gin.

My first Naked spirit. Came as a bonus in a recent case, which was nice!
On opening, got huge hit of juniper and the cardamom definitely comes through, although not like Ophir. Get some of the anise as well. Those flavours dull somewhat when mixed with tonic, which was nice and how I had the first taste. They're less than the aroma on sipping a little bit straight, too.
It's a nice enough gin, and I'd have it again at the Angel £25/bottle, but the list of £40, in my opinion, is too much. Doesn't go far enough beyond, say, Gordon's to justify the list price.
