A family unit with Montepulciano at its heart
- Mario and Simona are born winemakers - the TLC they put into just one bottle is enough to leave most mere mortals needing a good lie down. They are a father and daughter duo who thrive under the pressure of a busy harvest - in fact the whole family rolls up their sleeves to support them, with Simona's two younger sisters and Mario's wife on hand to help run the winery itself.
- With winemaking roots harking back four generations, their drive has been handed down through the years and centres around their love for Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. It's one very small grape that represents a whole lot more for Mario, Simona and their family winery.
- 'The path is never easy. There are many difficulties to face and sometimes the strength is lacking, but the love for this job is greater. Our greatest joys are our customers and seeing their faces smile and appreciate our wines is our greatest achievement.' Mario and Simona, Winemakers

Mario and Simona di Candilo's Story
We have been winemakers for generations. Mario graduated from the agricultural institute and then graduated in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Pisa. Simona graduated in Viticulture and Enology at the University of Pisa.
A passion and a love that has been handed down for 4 generations. Respect for the land was among the main teachings of our grandparents. Making wine meant putting this immense passion in a bottle. Our first bottle came out in 2004, the winery was born in 2000.
We love the unpredictability of nature, its beauty, and the constant work to be able to interpret it to obtain the best wine. Making wine is always different and they are not constant. We love to challenge ourselves to make a perfect wine.
Our wines are special because they are the fruit of sincere love. Our wines are the result of hard work, sleepless nights and the sacrifice of a family that personally follows every phase: from the planting of the vineyard to the bottling. Montepulciano d' Abruzzo is our innate passion that represents our roots and our family.
Mario and Simona's Activity
Another new winemaker making their debut on the site, and another impressive wine! 🍷
Very smooth and easy to drink, medium bodied, red fruit and cherry with just a hint of pepper. I had noticed an earlier comment that this paired well with Stilton cheese, so we drank it with some rib eye steaks 🥩 with melted Blue Stilton on top. Yummy! 😋

Evening all!
Bit of a cloudy, showery & breezy day here today, so have decided to go for a red 🍷.
Keen also to try the new offering from Mario & Simona di Candilo who have recently joined Naked, so opened their
Tenuta Oderisio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2018.
First impressions after a bit of breathing time in the decanter are good - cheers!

Beautiful wine. Took forever to get in the bottle, cork was dry and kept breaking. I even managed to cut myself on the foil trying to get. All worth it though lol. Will be buying more. Full bodied and fruity
