The twin brothers crafting flawless boutique Sangiovese and Vermentino on the Tuscan coast
- Moreno and Marco are the twin force behind Bruni Winery. Born into a long family line of winemakers, the twins have always had a keen interest in working with the vines on their family winery in Maremma, Tuscany.
- But nothing could have prepared the brothers to take charge of the winery at the age of just 20. With the support of their mother Elsa, they've transformed what was originally a tiny 5 hectare plot into a thriving 90 hectare winemaking haven.
- Moreno and Marco, bring a hands-on approach to every step of the winemaking process. Moreno tends to the land and vines, whilst Marco works in the winery, transforming the grapes into top-shelf Sangiovese and Vermentino wines - one of which was even named one of the best Vermentino in the world by Robert Parker!

Our wines talk about the area where we are located: Maremma, in the Southern part of Tuscany.
We are near the seaside and in our Vermentino you can feel and taste the minerality. Our Morellino di Scansano is a great expression of the most famous Tuscan varietal: Sangiovese. Here Sangiovese is more approachable, fruitier and well balanced.
We were born inside our family winery. Our grandfather and father bought some lands in Maremma at the end of the '50s when this area was a poor part of Tuscany. They started the project in 1956, planting vineyards and recovering the soil. At that time the Bruni family had only 5 hectares (now we have more than 90).
Our family started to produce wine in 1967 just for local consumption. The first bottling was in 1973 and we were born in 1974. So we can say that wine is in our blood.
We both studied to be agricultural experts with a focus on winemaking. We started university but due to the sudden loss of our father when we were 20 years old we were forced to focus all our energies in the Bruni winery.
Thanks to our mother’s support (Elsa - who is still very involved in the daily work), we have been able to grow both personally and professionally.
We love the fact that we are involved in every step of the winemaking process. Moreno is more involved in the agricultural part. Marco is more involved in the winemaking.
We are twins so we are very interchangeable and we always take all decisions together… It is a real family business that involves us, our mother Elsa, our sister Paola and all our workers who we consider as part of the family.
The passion of our father was Vermentino grapes and as young boys we immediately understood the potential of this grape variety.
Vermentino is very important for us. So important that we have 3 wines in our range that are Vermentino based (a Spumante too). The moment when Robert Parker judged our Perlaia Vermentino as one of the best Vermentinos in the world was such a joy for a small family business like us.
On the other hand, Sangiovese is where everything started. The first varietal planted by our father. Sangiovese is the main grape for our Morellino di Scansano appellation and is our first love.
The greatest joy has been that we have been able to continue our father's dream.
With a lot of work and passion we’ve invested in new projects such as planting Grenache. It is the typical Mediterranean grape but when we planted it nobody really believed in this varietal in Maremma.
With this Grenache, we created a new label (Oltreconfine) and obtained important ratings which made wine-lovers start to talk about Bruni Winery. So we can say we are sort of pioneers for Grenache in the Maremma area.
Our dream is to increase the hospitality part of our business. We would like more wine lovers to be in touch with the Maremma area: a beautiful land almost unknown made of authentic people and great wines.
By working with Naked and working with Angels, our hope is to be able to promote our land. We started the organic conversion recently and we want to be able to continue this project: respect for the place where we were born and increasing the chances to let wine lovers know what Maremma is.
We love to be part of an international community of wine lovers. We can immediately feel a more direct contact with the people who support us.

At last a real Tuscan wine . Maybe marginally young but open a few hours before drinking .Great flavours and just so enjoyable with pasta or frankly any other dish. Naked wines you have finally delivered . A challenge not to finish the bottle.

Thoroughly enjoyed this wine. Smooth and rounded with a deep rich colour, but not at all heavy. It came as part of the 2023 Fine Wine club December collection but I only just opened last week when I took it to some friends' house for dinner. It went very well with the pork we ate and all 3 of us raved about this wine. A great bottle. x
Really sorry, but we didn’t enjoy this wine - fizzy and had an acidic tang - such a pity as other reviews describe a bery different experience - I guess that we got one of the problematic ones!
This was such a pleasant surprise and quite the treat after the week I had! Absolutely delicious, one I enjoyed sipping through dinner, right through catching up on my favourite shows from the week. Will definitely put my name down for a case going forward 👌🏻

Not for me. There are much better wines available at this price point. I also noticed the reviews are very mixed, so maybe there are variations between bottles.
Very disappointing , had a very unpleasant tang ,, borderline corked
I’ve found I like Vermentino, I enjoyed this one very much. It’s clearly a classy, very well made wine. Lovely citrus flavours with some stone fruit, and a bit of texture to the mouthfeel.
It’s a wine I’ll happily buy again, although there is a slight caveat that it’s at a price point that puts it out of range of consideration as a regular drinker, but I certainly didn’t begrudge the cost for the quality.

A new wine for me tonight. This is the Marco and Moreno Bruni Cantine Bruni Perlaia Vermentino IGP Toscana 2022.
