About the wine
This crisp and zesty Austrian Veltliner is utterly gripping
- Herbert's an international Grüner Veltliner specialist, and has been making some of the biggest names in the business peer over their spectacles. So when we say he's made you some of the finest examples of Austrian Grüner Veltliner going, we're not pulling your leg.
- Grüner Veltliner is Austria's most popular grape and a bit like Herbert, is gaining some serious momentum in exclusive wine circles, both for its quality and its fine, distinctive flavours. Herbert lets the grapes do all the talking, working closely with the soil and the vines during the growing process, before taking a step back once the wine hits the cellar.
- The aim of the game is to keep the process as natural and sustainable as possible, a technique that results in this effortlessly complex wine. Full of character and citrusy crisp flavours of lemon, lime and vibrant nectarine - it's an utterly gripping sunshine sipper.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Herbert Zillinger
- Herbert has been at the reigns of his family estate in the Weinviertel (Austria's most sought after winemaking region) since he was just twenty. Another twenty years on and he's one of the most sought after Veltliner producers in the world, grabbing the interest of big shot wine critics like Robert Parker and Jancis Robinson.
- Dedicated to the sustainability of his wines, Herbert uses biodynamic farming to make sure he's feeding back into the land rather than purely taking from it. It's all about keeping it natural and ignoring passing fads. You won't catch Herbert compromising his style for anyone.
- He lets the land set the trends for him, creating sophisticated natural wines that speak to the robust structure and bright zippy flavours that make Weinviertel wines so vibrant and distinctive.

I love Austrian gruner veltliner and night this afternoon trying it at the summer tasting. A little different to most, it's characterful in a way that reminded me a little of a natural wine.
Heavy sour gooseberry flavours on first taste, and slightly acidic too. Then it mellows out and becomes softer on the acidity, adding green apples to the mix. Very enjoyable and I'll certainly buy it again
Not great. Sulphurous and very acidic . I would say it was possibly corked but it has a screw top. Disappointing
Golden yellow Nose of ripe stone fruit and mandarin Palate is bone dry, refreshing acidity, pear and mandarin, big mouthfeel for a 12% wine. Satisfying and enjoyable.
This was very disappointing. It was not a patch on the Sainsbury’s equivalent, which was much cheaper.
Slightly disappointed with this one. Wouldn't buy again because there are so many others on this site that we like better
I thoroughly enjoyed this. A bit heavier and stronger than I've been drinking recently so the first half a glass took some getting used to but well worth it. Delicious.
im not a white wine lover but having sampled this on the tour ordered a bottle and boy have I loved it ...fabulous flavour and lovely aftertaste .
It was too dark in comour and quite acidic.
