About the wine
Virgiles stumbled across some Languedoc treasure...
- I discovered these few bottles in my friend’s cellar, without any label and any idea what to do with them! So when I tasted this wine, with lovely maturity, I thought immediately about Naked Angels who would love to have a glass of this special, unique and authentic wine!
- It comes from Montpeyroux village appellation, situated next to my village St Saturnin, which means that wine is exactly this same high level AOP hierarchy – in the top of Languedoc!
- It’s a blend of concentrated and spicy Syrah, and fruity Grenache, aged in French oak barrels for 2 years. It’s a full-bodied wine, mature with rich and intense fruit, a lovely balanced palate and spicy flavours. It has velvety tannins with a savoury finish.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Virgile Joly
- Virgile Joly is almost annoyingly perfect. He's ultra organic, with the certificates to prove it. Dashingly good looking, with a beautiful wife, Magda, (who fell in love with him after one harvest). Stupidly talented with wine, he has glowing reviews from the doyenne of wine writing, Jancis Robinson.
- Plus he's not afraid of hard work. He bottled his first vintage himself. 3,000 bottles, Virgile and a funnel. Now that's dedication!
- 10 years later, he's producing some of the Languedoc's most sought after wines and we're using Angel funding to help him expand his winery and go on to even greater things. Plus his surname brings a smile to our face every time we see it - what's not to like!
