Fresh, fruity Pinot that will surprise you with its depth of texture and flavour

When we sent out word that Angels wanted more affordable white wines from off the beaten track, we never expected one of our Italian winemakers to pitch up with a cracking Pinot Grigio from Moldova.

Moldova lies at the eastern edge of Europe, bordering the Russian Steppe. Its rolling hillsides of rich black soil overlie ancient fossilised limestone. Bright sunshine combined with keen winds keep the vines healthy and honest. Perfect for making crisp, refreshing whites like this Pinot Grigio.

Serena’s fruity and fresh Pinot Grigio will surprise you with its depth of texture and flavour. It’s full of vibrant, bright citrus, pear and floral notes, and a lingering aftertaste. This is proper ‘happy juice’, a wine to sit in the garden and enjoy.

Meet the winemaker - Serena Cordero

Serena’s been delighting Angels for years with the top-shelf Italian wines she makes alongside her dad in Piedmont, like Barolo and Gavi di Gavi. Now, she’s also blazing new trails with a set of stunning Moldovan whites that’ve gone gangbusters. We can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve next.

Serena knew from an early age she wanted to follow in the family footsteps… ‘I was 7 years old. Probably as a daughter in love with her dad, it was inevitable :-)’. She’s blossomed into a super-talented winemaker and is making her father proud with every bottle she makes.

Angel support helps Serena continue her family legacy, creating wines from the very same patch her grandad farmed years ago - and it’s also giving her the opportunity to discover new, off-the-beaten-track wines like her Moldovan gems. That’s why she’s so grateful and proud to share her kit with UK wine-lovers like you.

Crisp, dry, light and fresh flavour.
I don't normally drink Pinot Grigio, but this came as part of a mixed case picked for me. Not really to my taste, but quite a nice example.

Excellent spiced pear character from this Grigio. Enough character and backbone to match a red pepper/aubergine puree, courgette and tomato gratin with grilled salmon perfectly.
A fine example of a pinot and very pleasantly surprised.
