About the wine
Rod reckons it's the best bang for buck wine he's ever made...
- Finding fruit this great, and at a steal of a price is something as rare as hens' teeth. I had to snap up this small parcel of Sauvignon Blanc for you Angels.
- I have a great relationship with this grower and he has faith in what I am doing with Naked Wines. Therefore he has a long-term view regarding what is a good price for the grapes. Making this Sauvignon Blanc the best 'bang for buck' wine I've ever made.
- As the name suggests, this is a high altitude vineyard, at 185 metres above sea level. Cooler daytime temperatures during ripening and a consistent afternoon sea breeze give more aromatic fruit qualities. This wine evokes characters of passionfruit and lemongrass which really burst from the glass. It is built for immediate enjoyment.

White wine onion soup with clams. Any delicate shellfish, white fish will go well, but Sauvignon Blanc like this will cut through strong cheeses too.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Rod Easthope
- Rod downed tools at one of New Zealand's most iconic wineries, to set-up-shop alone, and luckily for us, he knows the whereabouts of the very best grapes that Hawke's Bay and Central Otago have to offer.
- He has rave reviews from journalists, wines dripping in medals and oodles of Parker Points under his belt, and thanks to Angel funding and backing, he's now making wines exclusively for you.
- Using his prize fund from being crowned your Winemaker of the Year 2014, Rod was able to add a stunning Gisborne Chardonnay to his range. Years on and his wines never fail to impress - they don’t call him Rod the God for nothing.

Absolutely blown away by this! Not an expert on white wines as I drink red 99 times out of 100, but I absolutely loved this. Very, very fruity, not overly dry and a nice amount of acidity. I absolutely recommend this; it's the best white I've had for ages. Very affordable too, so top marks.....!!

Softer and less pronounced flavours than I remember from the 2019 vintage. I wonder if I've left it too long and its not ageing well - but label says drink to 2023? Will compare again to the other Rod E 2020 Reserve SB left in my stock, to see how that one's performed over time - hopefully it's stayed crisper!

Like the flavour - not too citrusy but has a slight fizz.
