About the wine
Rodolfo's full-bodied, single-vineyard, 100% Garnacha Tintorera is a beast of a red
-
Garnacha Tintorera is a beast of a grape commonly used in lighter blends to add oomphs of fruity flavour. But on its own it makes powerful, inky-dark, brooding wines that are some of the most sought-after on the Iberian peninsula.
-
The only catch is it’s a beast of a grape to work with and must be handled with care and precision. The key is perfect timing and an intimate knowledge of the fruit you’re working with. Thankfully, Rodolfo is a highly-skilled fourth-generation winemaker who knows his vineyard like the back of his hand, so he was able to time the harvest to perfection to make sure his grapes were nice, plump and juicy, without being too over-the-top.
-
This stunning 100% Garnacha Tintorera red is packed with lush black fruit flavours topped with subtle hints of coffee grounds, red fruits and a nice peppery spice. It’s big and juicy with the perfect flavours to match a nice plump roast duck or yummy cheese board. Rodolfo’s tip is a tangy Spanish cured manchego. Muy Bueno.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Rodolfo Valiente
-
Rodolfo Valiente is a fourth-generation winemaker from a long line of grape-growers, distillers and winemakers. With winemaking in his blood, he had an itch to be in the vineyard, so it was no surprise when he ditched is big city lawyer job to follow his dream.
-
Despite his family's connections, he took himself on a mission to learn the trade, spending vintages in Spain and California understanding the process, from tending to the vines to bottling the wines. In 1999, armed with a wealth of wine knowledge, his transfer from the corporate world to sun-drenched vineyards was complete and Rodolfo made his first commercial wine from the family's vineyard.
-
The Valencian Association of Winemakers appointed Rodolfo as their 'Winemaker of the Year' in 2017 for his concentrated but elegant, mature but fresh organic wines.
