About the wine
An elegant Grenache blend from one of Spain's oldest yet under-the-radar regions
-
This classy Spanish blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Cab Sav is a celebration of Jose’s small village of Mentrida, where the locals have been making wines since Ancient times.
-
Mentrida generally flies under-the-radar compared to Spain’s more well-known wine regions. But its well-drained sandy soils - a rarity in Spain - provide deep mineral deposits to nourish the old vines planted there. The pristine fruit they produce is perfect for creating elegant and complex reds with more finesse than your typical Spanish powerhouse.
-
Pour yourself a glass and take a sniff, and you’ll just get lost in the aromas, they’re bright and intense, with fresh strawberries and raspberries to the fore, followed by subtle hints of spicy nutmeg and peppercorn, herbs and orange peel. Then on the palate you get a little more dark fruit with yummy brambles and cherries, and well-balanced fine tannins to round it out.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Jose Benavides Jimenez-Landi
-
When Jose co-founded Bodegas Jiménez-Land with his cousin back in 2004, things started out as small scale as they get. The pair had a hand in every single task going - ranging from pruning the vines, all the way to in-depth oenological analysis.
-
That kind of experience is priceless and points to a winemaker with a cover to cover knowledge of their craft. This couldn’t be more true of Jose, who tells us that the magic of winemaking is in watching a wine change and evolve with the time, love and energy you put into it.
-
Jiménez-Landi wines are fresh and elegant despite the scorching temperature of the region - Sierra de Gredos, in Central Spain. Jose takes a hands-off approach, working with the land and his vines to create stylish and ultra elegant wines that are totally authentic to their landscape.
