Market Price
To show you the value you're getting as an Angel...
We regularly benchmark a selection of our wines against up to three comparable wines on the market. The Market Price is based on the price of those wines.
What do we mean by benchmark? We taste them blind against our own wines, or we use our market knowledge (over 40 years between us) to set an industry standard Market Price.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Market Price, or it's not your cup of tea, we'll add a credit to your account. For more info, see our FAQS.

About the wine
Rich, spicy and elegant Shiraz...
- From the Ebenezer region of the highly sought after Aussie Barossa Valley, comes this opulent and energetic red that is far from Scrooge like. In recent years Barossa has been making serious waves, and its name has become synonymous with everything there is to love about Australian wine.
- It's all thanks to winemakers like Giles who, with painstaking year round care, make sure their vines are meeting standards that are out of this world. The ripeness of his grapes means everything - Giles has been studying ripening patterns for years, so you best believe the beauties contained in each bottle of the Gilo Barossa were picked not a moment too soon, or too late.
- Mark our words, the difference this makes is BIG (as well as incredibly tasty). This Barossa is more balanced than 'blockbuster', with a clear brightness and refinement that reveals its elegant, textured style with each sip. The subtle spiced red fruit flavour and warming oak round up, is not one to be missed.

Food match
Slow cooked beef dishes take a lot of beating - slow braised beef ribs with smoky mash would be pretty good! Shiraz also works a treat with venison dishes as it really compliments the gamey flavour. Shiraz is perfect with grilled meats too and anything Middle Eastern or North African is prime territory for this wine. The rich, fruit sweetness also works with cheese (though I tend to stick to hard cheeses with red wine).

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Giles Cooke
- Giles spent the first 25 years of his career selling wine in the UK, before he took the plunge and headed to Australia to try his hand at winemaking.
- Turns out Giles was a natural. He knows exactly what UK wine drinkers like to drink, so his small-scale wines are made with passion and gut instinct, rather than following instructions, formulas or recipes.
- Giles, who is based in Edinburgh (he travels to Australia a few times a year to work his magic) is one of only 414 people in the world to hold the illustrious 'Master of Wine' qualification, the ultimate accolade in wine.
