About the wine
This classy Stellenbosch Cab Sav is Arco's thank you for bailing him out in his time of need, and he's paying his good luck forward
-
Arco was on the point of going bust in 2020 when the SA wine industry was hit by Covid, just as he was recovering from a battle with cancer. Thankfully, our very own Johan Kruger put him in touch with us, and Angel support helped keep him afloat. Arco’s now sourced and blended this super-premium wine to pay you back while helping out some of his winemaker mates who’ve also been hit hard by Covid.
-
This juice would normally end up in a famously posh boutique wine that we’ve sworn not to mention (it’s a doozy) but because of South Africa’s lockdowns and bans, it was sitting unsold in tanks. Arco’s emptied the tanks to bring this first-class wine to you while putting some money back in the bank for his mates.

This is a lovely well-rounded Cabernet Sauvignon from one of the warmer regions in South Africa. It’s created a wine that on the nose exudes blackberry notes as well as some eucalyptus and sweet spice. The mouthfeel is full and robust with silky soft tannins and flavours of cherry, plums and dark chocolate. Yummy.
Best before
This wine will age well, drink between 5 to 8 years.
Serving advice
Decant two hours before serving at around 18'C
Food match
The Focal Point Cabernet Sauvignon is a great food paring wine due to the soft tannins. A lovely slow cooked beef short rib finished of with a charring on the braai. Also a lovely meat or vegetarian lasagna and as a after dinner cheese platter wine with strong cheddar or old Amsterdam cheese.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Arco Laarman
- Arco had his heart set on a life in wine well before he could even drink the stuff! In fact he'd barely broken into his teens when a tour of a Stellenbosch cellar took a firm hold of his imagination.
- At just 19 he moved to the Cape where he worked on 3 vintages with a top drawer winery and, as it happens, room shared with our very own Danie Steytler (a name you might recognise from some seriously tasty bottles on our shelves). Quickly working his way up the South African winemaking ranks, Arco established his own winery in 2016.
- Arco now seeks out the very best parcels of grapes from all over South Africa, highlighting with each wine the personality of its region. Chardonnay sits closest to Arco's heart but his flair for smooth red Cinsault and Syrah cannot be missed! Word has it that Arco is also a keen foodie, so those looking for some culinary inspo can look forward to the exciting new pairing recommendations coming your way...
