We regularly benchmark a selection of our wines against up to three comparable wines on the market. The Market Price is based on the price of those wines.
What do we mean by benchmark? We taste them blind against our own wines, or we use our market knowledge (over 40 years between us) to set an industry standard Market Price.

About the wine

Stephen’s Merlot is absolutely soaked in warm Californian sunshine, it tastes awesome and is great value to boot!

Bursting with ripe and juicy blackberries, dark cherry and jammy plums followed by a dash of vanilla spice, it's the perfect tummy warmer.

Lately I've been experimenting with making pizza on the Weber. I got a pizza stone that sits right on the rack and makes it easy on and off for the pizza. It also helps with crust development. Once you've got the crust thing figured out, pizza is all about the topping. I prefer mine with little sauce but plenty of freshly grated cheese (go crazy) with anchovies. I know, I know. I love the salty savory flavors those little fish bring to the party.

- Stephen is no stranger to a gold medal or two... but usually his prestigious employers are the only ones in the limelight.
- When Stephen offered to set aside some of his favourite wines and vineyards to make a special range with his name on the label just for Angels, we jumped at the opportunity.
- If you like underdogs, Stephen's your man. He will find the overlooked and under-appreciated and he will take precious care to make sure they grow into big, beautiful wines that deserve more attention.

Had this as part of 2024 advent calendar - 3 of us were tasting together, so combined notes-
Cherries and dark fruit with a peppery finish. Not too dry, easy to drink. Ave score 4.2/5

I usually LIKE Merlot but I would say I LOVED this one. I enjoyed it by itself at first and had some Italian-style food (pork meatballs, tomato veg sauce) with it as well. Very very good.
