Market Price
To show you the value you're getting as an Angel...
We regularly benchmark a selection of our wines against up to three comparable wines on the market. The Market Price is based on the price of those wines.
What do we mean by benchmark? We taste them blind against our own wines, or we use our market knowledge (over 40 years between us) to set an industry standard Market Price.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Market Price, or it's not your cup of tea, we'll add a credit to your account. For more info, see our FAQS.

About the wine
Eddy scores a hat trick with this fruity, flavourful red
-
Eddy bought a bottle of his Mago on tour and Angels went wild for it so we shook hands and took the lot. He's pleased as punch with his third wine for Angels and we reckon it's destined for greatness.
-
The name pays homage to the ancient wine buff, Mago, who wrote some of the earliest works on viticulture; teaching the ancient Greeks and Romans a thing or two about winemaking!
- Angels who crack it open now can expect an elegant fruit bomb of a red, but as it ages, the lush oakiness will break onto centre stage and enter a delicious duet with all that fruit. It's a win-win really!

Serving advice
Serve at 16-18°C. Open/Decant 2 hours before serving
Food match
This wine's intense dried fruit character leads me to think of strong creamy cheeses with a bloomy rind, like camembert. The bright acidity also helps cut through the plentiful fat in these types of cheeses. Also maybe a blue cheese would pair nicely.

Prune, Damson and berry flavours with light oaky tannins. Good with Venison casserole.

Unfortunately this wine wasn't liked by myself or family we had over for a meal. Had chosen it as thought it would be a perfect accompaniment to Hunkur Begendi. Had Lebanese wines before and really enjoyed them, so was very disappointed. We decanted the wine as suggested. Maybe it was an off bottle.

I rated this a year ago on Naked’s old and much better system. Not sure what I gave it but a year on this wine has developed beautifully. I paired it with a rich beef Giouvetsi which it matched perfectly (some of the wine went in the Giouvetsi). Give it a nice long decant still and you will be well rewarded with layers of complexity, mouthfuls of luscious dark fruit and a lovely long finish. I have another bottle which I’m going to keep for a while 🍷

Eddy Naim Mago 2018 for me this evening. I paired it with a rich beef Giouvetsi and Briam which it went absolutely perfectly with (150ml of the wine is in the Giouvetsi) and am now drinking on its own which is equally good. I’m not sure what I rated this wine before as Naked’s new system has deleted it but a year on I’m sure I’m going to be rating it higher. Happy Saturday to everyone 🍷

Plenty of fruit, a little spice and balanced tannins. A great alternative for when you don't want to push the boat out with a Chateau Qanafar. Thank you Eddy.

Too big and smoky for my liking. Perhaps for others, but not to my liking sadly.
