Market Price
To show you the value you're getting as an Angel...
We regularly benchmark a selection of our wines against up to three comparable wines on the market. The Market Price is based on the price of those wines.
What do we mean by benchmark? We taste them blind against our own wines, or we use our market knowledge (over 40 years between us) to set an industry standard Market Price.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Market Price, or it's not your cup of tea, we'll add a credit to your account. For more info, see our FAQS.

About the wine
A super-sophisticated, age-worthy Burgundy worth saving for a special occasion
-
Philippe and Virginie’s premium L’Olivier comes from the heart of their family domaine in the middle of Fixin. This is where the Bernards have been honing their craft for over a century and it’s where they create their most prestigious wines.
-
This is a super-sophisticated red Burgundy that’s made to lay down and save for a special occasion… perhaps Christmas in a couple of years’ time, or to celebrate a big anniversary. If you’re patient, you’ll be rewarded with a smooth and supple wine with delicious red fruit characters and a mouthwatering minerality.
-
The only catch with premium red Burgundy like this is it’s only available in small numbers. We have just 900 bottles to go round. So if you’re a Burgundy aficionado or you’ve got a special occasion on the horizon - you’ll want to make sure you get your hands on a share before the collectors descend en masse.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Virginie and Philippe Bernard
- Virginie and Philippe are a father-daughter duo with winemaking in the blood, it's kind of just what the Bernards do... and you bet they do it well. In 1918 the family bought a small plot of land near Dijon, and now 4 generations down the line, what was once a small family vineyard stretches over 19 hectares.
- Philippe, one of 8, and Virginie, one of 4, both spent their childhoods surrounded by the vines and picking odd jobs in the cellar - it's simply a matter of tradition. But there was no teenage rebellion to be found here - whilst both father and daughter moved away from the family vineyard, Philippe to pursue Oenology and Virginie to work in food, neither could resist returning to the winery and continuing its legacy.
- It turns out the pair make one hell of a team who are utterly dedicated to every last inch of the process, from the vine to bottle. They exclusively use traditional methods of winemaking that they have been honing in the Domaine du Clos Saint-Louis for going on five generations. This is small scale winemaking at it's best.

Cherry and raspberry fruit upfront, with a lovely earthy, mushroomy and leathery finish.
Not cheap, but for what it is, very good value for money.
This evening I thought I'd treat myself. It's been a good few years since I had a Fixin, so I'm looking forward to the Domaine du Clos St Louis Fixin L'Olivier 2021. It smelled lovely and savoury when I decanted it.
Have a good evening, everyone.

A post by HH in this group a couple of days ago reminded me I was intending to place an order this month (thanks Helen!), so here it is.
Firstly, new vintages from “my” winemakers:
The Feather Pluckers Daughter Merlot 2022
The Feather Pluckers Daughter Chardonnay 2023
Cordero Barbera d'Alba DOC 2022
Serena Cordero Pinot Grigio 2022
Serena Cordero Tris 2022
Boschkloof Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2022
Next, a repeat purchase, because I love a nice, dry sherry, and this is a very nice, dry sherry:
Manzanilla La Jaca Sherry
There are not enough Burgundies on the site in my opinion, so this new one (it landed on the virtual shelves less than a week ago) is a more than welcome addition:
Domaine du Clos St Louis Fixin L'Olivier 2021
Next, some a couple of wines new to me that caught my eye when reading group posts and reviews:
Caminho da Costa O Aventureiro Tinto 2019
Moerbei Directors' Reserve 2019
New vintages of a couple I’d enjoyed previously:
Vino Atlantico Txakoli 2021
Ethereo Albarino 2022
Finally, this month’s irresistible free bottle:
Boschkloof Pursuit Syrah Cabernet 2022
If for no other reason, this order is noteworthy for including my 1,000th Naked wine.
Cheers everyone!
