What do we mean by benchmark? We taste them blind against our own wines, or we use our market knowledge (over 40 years between us) to set an industry standard Market Price.

About the wine
A sublime Chenin that oozes quality and Old World style

The vineyards are located at the top of a charming little village in western France and have been lucky enough to avoid the frost which has plagued the rest of the Loire Valley and Europe in recent years.

Two pickings over 10 days makes sure both crisp freshness and full flavours go into this vibrant white that’s brimming with Old World class.
- This one will age beautifully for the next 5-7 years at least, taking on a more honeyed character as it does, whilst still remaining dry. It’s pure magic!

Meet the winemaker - Philippe Socheleau
- After studying food & wine, Philippe spent some time at a friends vineyard and was so taken with it, that he came straight home and started his own winemaking business with his father.
- He took a massive gamble back in 2001, when he ripped up their Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc vines in favour of lesser known Chenin Blanc ones. The bold move paid off and nowadays they are producing some of the top Chenin in the region.
- To Philippe, the beauty of his job is creating delicious wines for people to enjoy. He thrives on the patience and precision required and won’t shy away from taking a little risk every now and then. In short, he’s nailed what being a winemaker is all about!

Not really a white wine person, I bought some to try.
Absolutely delightful, a glassful of fruit, which went very well with some Brie.
On my list for Christmas, I recommend this wine very highly.

Absolutely delicious chenin blanc. Big mouth, nice finish. I loved it.
Somewhat okay and buttery, and not zesty at all overall pretty decent, but not for the price
I really wanted to enjoy this as it ticked a few boxes for me on first taste… a nice full body and complex white wine but just too much acidity at the end for me sadly
Really enjoyable wine - got better as it warmed up. Not one to pop in the fridge if you want the full flavour to come through.
Enjoyable change, we mostly drink reds BUT way over proced.
Mice minerality, med high acidity, lychee nose, stone fruit taste
I bought this wine because my mother worked in a Chateau in Savennieres in around 1953; I enjoyed the wine but I would not buy it again because for a white, I found it quite earthy and on the heavy side - I prefer my whites to be fresher/ crisper
