To show you the value you're getting as an Angel...
We regularly benchmark a selection of our wines against up to three comparable wines on the market. The Market Price is based on the price of those wines.
What do we mean by benchmark? We taste them blind against our own wines, or we use our market knowledge (over 40 years between us) to set an industry standard Market Price.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Market Price, or it's not your cup of tea, we'll add a credit to your account. For more info, see our FAQS.

About the wine
Diego's dark and brooding Tannat is a Uruguayan revelation
-
Now this is the daddy… Diego’s 100% Tannat is a revelation. It’s a dark wine with a brooding intensity and smoky, toasty, woody herb and spice on the nose. But what really stands out is the primary fruit.
-
Can you remember the last time you were out picking blackberries? And some were a bit green and others a bit too soft? Then you find that perfectly ripe one and you go “WOW, I wish they all tasted like that”. That’s kinda what this wine is. That small, concentrated berry, at the absolute peak of perfect ripeness.
-
As you’d expect from South America where they cook a lot of meat outdoors, this wine is an ideal match for anything charred and protein based. Any fattiness will cut through the tannins and you’ll be left with the fruit. So think BBQ’d meats rather than slow-cooked. Something that’s been licked by a bit of fire.

Food match
For a wine like this you want intense flavours - grilled red meats with a bit of char are perfect. Or tummy-warming stews will work nicely too.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Diego Spinoglio
-
A former architect and great grandson of an Italian winemaker who immigrated to Uruguay in the late 1800s, Diego’s family were part of a huge wave of European grape growers who moved to Uruguay at the end of the 19th century. Many of whom brought with them their favourite grapevines, stashed safely in their luggage to be planted in the new world.
-
Lots of the wineries set up by those families back then are still going strong. Led by new generations like Diego. He grew up among the grapevines and - after a 4 year break to study architecture - came home to dedicate his life to the family craft. And he’s now been making wine for almost 30 years.
-
Uruguay is a wine region like almost no other in South America. Unlike Argentina and Chile, with their arid climates and mountainous vineyards, it’s a tiny country nuzzled up against the fierce Atlantic Ocean. The cooling coastal influences and frequent rains are perfect for producing smooth, plush styles of Uruguay’s signature grape variety - Tannat - which is the basis for many of Diego’s wines.
