Market Price
To show you the value you're getting as an Angel...
We regularly benchmark a selection of our wines against up to three comparable wines on the market. The Market Price is based on the price of those wines.
What do we mean by benchmark? We taste them blind against our own wines, or we use our market knowledge (over 40 years between us) to set an industry standard Market Price.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Market Price, or it's not your cup of tea, we'll add a credit to your account. For more info, see our FAQS.

About the wine
This super posh 'Chablis of Italy' is a true hidden gem
-
Our first ever Gavi de Gavi, first vintage landed back in 2016 and it's been going strong since then! We wanted to show off the very best of our region, Central Piedmont, the home to such a special wine, that you can only find here, and nowhere else.
-
Known as the ‘Chablis of Italy’, Gavi de Gavi is made from the Cortese grape. It’s fresh, crisp, vibrant, super dry with subtle notes of peach, pear and citrus, and a steely minerality on the finish.
-
Making wine is our job, but also our greatest passion. Thanks to Angel funding, we’re able to combine our day job as wine consultants, with handcrafting wines like this on our family vineyard. Grazie for believing in us!

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Serena Cordero
-
Serena’s been delighting Angels for years with the top-shelf Italian wines she makes alongside her dad in Piedmont, like Barolo and Gavi di Gavi. Now, she’s also blazing new trails with a set of stunning Moldovan whites that’ve gone gangbusters. We can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve next.
-
Serena knew from an early age she wanted to follow in the family footsteps… ‘I was 7 years old. Probably as a daughter in love with her dad, it was inevitable :-)’. She’s blossomed into a super-talented winemaker and is making her father proud with every bottle she makes.
-
Angel support helps Serena continue her family legacy, creating wines from the very same patch her grandad farmed years ago - and it’s also giving her the opportunity to discover new, off-the-beaten-track wines like her Moldovan gems. That’s why she’s so grateful and proud to share her kit with UK wine-lovers like you.

Whist I mainly drink dry white wines and Italian wines in general, I hadn't drunk a lot of Gavi, I will be putting this right in the future. I really enjoyed this wine and will be buying again.
Cordero Gavi del Comune di Gavi 2023 for me tonight. Hope everyone has a good Saturday evening. Cheers.

Crisp smooth beautiful white
Beautiful crisp Gavi
This is a good example of this wine.
Rounded and dry without over acidity and that unpleasant bite on the finish of some weaker examples. Crisp and clean, light notes of orange and gooseberry which makes a change from generic citrus. Lovely finish reasonably long notes of evolving orange and something that I'll describe as yummy.
Again drank on it's own and with italian ragu, cajun fish and some lobster, all worked well but the ragu and cajun probably made it a more interesting wine.

NYE 2024 - very light and refreshing
Very refreshing. Nice and crisp but not very dry which was lovely.
I did, for the last time this year (probably).
Firstly, new vintages of some regular purchases:
Sam Plunkett Whitegate Vineyard Shiraz 2020
Bellesa Perfecta Priorat 2019
Cordero Gavi del Comune di Gavi 2023
Serena Cordero Tris 2023
Some wines I’ve had before but don’t buy regularly:
Dom Maxwell The Bloom 2022
Gerd Stepp Pinot Blanc 2022
Raats Angels Selection Chenin Blanc 2023
You wait ages for a red Burgundy, then three turn up at the same time:
Domaine Jacqueline Frachet Chorey Les Beaune Vieilles Vignes 2021
Domaine Jacqueline Frachet Aloxe Corton 2021
Domaine Jacqueline Frachet Volnay 2021
Next, sheer self-indulgence:
Boschkloof Epilogue 2022
A wine new to me:
Christian Patat Greco di Tufo 2023
Finally, the free bottle:
Scott Peterson ROX Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon Magnum 2022
That’s Christmas sorted (although possibly not New Year). Cheers!
