Market Price
To show you the value you're getting as an Angel...
We regularly benchmark a selection of our wines against up to three comparable wines on the market. The Market Price is based on the price of those wines.
What do we mean by benchmark? We taste them blind against our own wines, or we use our market knowledge (over 40 years between us) to set an industry standard Market Price.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Market Price, or it's not your cup of tea, we'll add a credit to your account. For more info, see our FAQS.

About the wine
An expertly crafted, authentic Italian red packed full of charm and plush intensity
- Barbera is Piedmont’s oldest and most authentic grape variety, and Serena’s family have been making the best in class for generations.
- The vines are planted in deep, structured red clay soil with a south-west sun exposure. This allows the grapes to reach a full and complete ripening, resulting in a rich purple colour, intense raspberry notes on the nose, and the palate’s mellow quality.
- The name Barbera comes from the mediaeval latin ‘Barberus’, meaning ‘impetuous’ or ‘fearless’ - this distinctively strong and vibrant wine reflects this perfectly.
Best before
Drink now until 2033.
Serving advice
Best served at 16°C. If you choose to leave your bottle to age for a little while,
be sure to decant before serving, giving the wine an opportunity to open up.
Food match
I personally really enjoy pairing this wine with some
'bollito misto' (a local veal stew) served with some
delicious Piedmonte sauce!
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Serena Cordero
-
Serena’s been delighting Angels for years with the top-shelf Italian wines she makes alongside her dad in Piedmont, like Barolo and Gavi di Gavi. Now, she’s also blazing new trails with a set of stunning Moldovan whites that’ve gone gangbusters. We can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve next.
-
Serena knew from an early age she wanted to follow in the family footsteps… ‘I was 7 years old. Probably as a daughter in love with her dad, it was inevitable :-)’. She’s blossomed into a super-talented winemaker and is making her father proud with every bottle she makes.
-
Angel support helps Serena continue her family legacy, creating wines from the very same patch her grandad farmed years ago - and it’s also giving her the opportunity to discover new, off-the-beaten-track wines like her Moldovan gems. That’s why she’s so grateful and proud to share her kit with UK wine-lovers like you.
