About the wine
Intensely fruity, refreshingly crisp white from a tiny village near the Languedoc coast
- Like Sauvignon Blanc? Then you’ll love this. Ben selects exclusive parcels of grapes from a co-operative in the tiny village of Pinet, making a beautifully fresh, zippy white.
- 'Pic-de-What?' you say... Yes, it's got a funny name. And yes, it comes in a funny looking bottle. But that's exactly why it doesn't cost an awful lot more.
- His little-known wine won't be little-known forever so you really should get in now before everyone else does.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Benjamin Darnault
- When Ben left a safe winemaking job in Australia to move back to France with his young family in the noughties, at first he really struggled. The financial crash of 2007/08 clobbered the winery he was working at, so they had to let him go. He couldn’t catch a break.
- That was until Angels freed Ben from the corporate fat cats and transformed his livelihood. Thanks to Angels, Ben was finally able to set up on his own and realise his lifelong dream of putting his own name on the label. Even better, he had an advance on his next vintage!
- With Angel support, Ben has been able to invest more, source even better fruit and establish strong relationships with local growers to improve the quality of his delicious wines year-on-year. With thousands of rave reviews, he’s a bonafide Naked icon.

Definitely feels like the warmest day of the year so far, so decided to go for white tonight. Benjamin Darnault Picpoul de Pinet 2023 (actually 2022) is one of my absolute favourites, since I first tasted it at the 2019 Summer Tour. Crisp and refreshing, with an acidic bite, balanced by fruity notes of apple, pear and peach. A good white for any season.

As an off dry white wine lover, this one fits in nicely. Works well with curry and Chinese style foods really well. I hope you enjoyed it.

Or a *Puckpool de Pinet, to me, whenever I see this wine, David.
*Puckpool Park was a favourite place from my childhood on the Isle Of Wight.
I DO love this wine though!

Golden coloured with high acidity, a lot of dryness, and a medium body. Flavours of apple, pear, and ripe peach with grapefruit and lemon zest citrus, with some butteriness and white pepper on the palate. Balanced with plenty of body and green and stone fruit flavours. A very nice wine.
