Back in 2022, Ben got word of some amazing parcels of fruit from a cluster of premium vineyards dotted around Minervois, Corbiere, Maury and Roussillon. He knew it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to make Angels a special one-off wine that might never come round again. So armed with your funding, he grabbed the fruit and got to work.

It was an end-of-harvest bonanza, so Ben was able to make sure all the Grenache fruit was picked super ripe to give this vibrant red its lush, juicy raspberry and strawberry flavours. And being the master blender he is, he then added a splash of Syrah for soul-warming spice. The result is a top-notch red with bags of flavour and intensity.

It would take a small miracle for all that premium fruit from around the Languedoc to drop into Ben’s lap at the same time again, so I wouldn’t count on it happening often, if ever. Just enjoy this spectacular drop while you can. :-)

Meet the winemaker - Benjamin Darnault
- When Ben left a safe winemaking job in Australia to move back to France with his young family in the noughties, at first he really struggled. The financial crash of 2007/08 clobbered the winery he was working at, so they had to let him go. He couldn’t catch a break.
- That was until Angels freed Ben from the corporate fat cats and transformed his livelihood. Thanks to Angels, Ben was finally able to set up on his own and realise his lifelong dream of putting his own name on the label. Even better, he had an advance on his next vintage!
- With Angel support, Ben has been able to invest more, source even better fruit and establish strong relationships with local growers to improve the quality of his delicious wines year-on-year. With thousands of rave reviews, he’s a bonafide Naked icon.
