About the wine
Deliciously rich and ultra premium Chardonnay from the Western Cape
- You won’t find a winemaker more experienced, or frankly more passionate about his wines than Stephen. So when he said he wanted to make a classy Reserve Chardonnay, we knew it would be a bit special.
- Thanks to Angel funding, Stephen was able to hand-harvest the grapes and age them in the finest French oak casks, giving his Reserve Chard the elegance of a white Burgundy, with a dollop of South African sunshine for extra flavour.
- His full-bodied Chardonnay is chock full of zesty lemons, limes and grapefruit all wrapped up in a velvety coat of toasty, vanilla spices. It’s refined, it’s lavish, it’s sumptuous... perfect for a night on the sofa with a good movie and a cuddle.

Meet the winemaker - Stephen and Jamie de Wet
- Stephen has been making wine from his family vineyard in the Robertson Valley since the tender age of 17. Winemakers don't come more experienced, or, frankly, downright in love with their work than this man.
- He's been with us since day one, over a decade ago, when we started out. Ever since, we’ve sold more of his crowd-pleasing Arabella wines than pretty much all of our other winemakers put together. Actually, to be more precise, in a stacking contest it would beat 226 Everests.
- We couldn’t have picked a nicer guy to be one of our first, and longest-serving winemakers... and Stephen never forgets it’s the support of wine-mad Angels who’ve been behind his success story.

I was exppecting a more buttery, oaky palate yet I am left feeling underwhelmed. Obiously well made, bright, good acidity level but the fruit is just not there in sufficient concentration to take the oak and move this into reserve status.
i really wanted to enjoy this silky smooth, buttery chardonnay but what with the green tinge to the wine and the rather acidic aftertaste, I am somewhat disapoointed, sorry!
