About the wine
Stephen has taken his best-selling Cab to the next level
- Stephen’s entry-level Cab is one of our best-selling reds of all time. So when we challenged him to step it up a notch, we knew we were in for a real treat.
- Stephen headed straight to the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard on his farm, where he meticulously selected the fruit for this premium drop. Then he spent a quid or two more on the best oak and ageing… and it’s taken the quality through the roof.
- The older vines have tiny, concentrated grapes, giving the wine lots of deliciously complex and concentrated dark berry flavours that linger on your tongue. By all means drink it now, but this top-notch drop will also keep for many years to come.
Best before
The wine is already accessible but will gain further complexity over the next 5 to 8 years.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Stephen and Jamie de Wet
- Stephen has been making wine from his family vineyard in the Robertson Valley since the tender age of 17. Winemakers don't come more experienced, or, frankly, downright in love with their work than this man.
- He's been with us since day one, over a decade ago, when we started out. Ever since, we’ve sold more of his crowd-pleasing Arabella wines than pretty much all of our other winemakers put together. Actually, to be more precise, in a stacking contest it would beat 226 Everests.
- We couldn’t have picked a nicer guy to be one of our first, and longest-serving winemakers... and Stephen never forgets it’s the support of wine-mad Angels who’ve been behind his success story.

The pleb
I was going to age this wine the recommended 5 to 8 years but my accidental review was annoying me. This wine is stunning. Fruity, perfect balance of dryness, not acidic and that flavour just keeps on giving from the moment the smells hit your nose right through to the gut. If the bottle lasts Beyonce the night you ain't enjoying it enough. Yum yum 5/5

With few exceptions, we only buy European wines to minimise our wine carbon footprint.
