Two-time Spanish Winemaker of the Year David and his Master of Wine bro Jonas specialise in rule-breaking wines that unearth Spain's hidden gem potential

  • Born in Denmark (not exactly a winemaking stronghold!) David and Jonas Tofterups’ lifelong love of wine was kick-started when their parents moved to Spain in the 90s, where they took trips to visit wine regions all around the country. 15-year-old David in particular was hooked, and after finishing school, he threw himself into a winemaking career which has seen him work at wineries all over the world including Spain, France, Chile and the US.
  • Jonas, 10 years the junior, naturally looked up to his brother as a superhero. As he grew up, Jonas went the academic route, becoming a fully-qualified Master of Wine who now has degree certificates falling out of his back pocket. They both dreamed that one day they would make a wine together. And now, fast forward 25 years, because of Angels… they do!
  • With Angel support, David and Jonas have been able to leave their large scale corporate wine jobs to devote themselves to making their boutique-style family wines with buckets of oomph and personality. They’re specialists in going off-the-beaten-track and unearthing all the hidden gem potential Spain has to offer. And we think they’re really rather good at it.

This is my introduction to the Tofterup Brothers wines, and what a lovely wine. Packed with the taste of cherries and a slight sweetness that makes this quite moreish. So glad i bought more than one bottle - not that I'm thinking of sharing it with guests. Well done David and Jonas. Thoroughly enjoyed this wine.

Hello all!!

We are excited because all the new vintages of your favourite wines are on there way to you! We just want to share with you all the wonderful reviews we have gotten from a number of international wines tasting competitions. However, we recognise the most important opinions are coming from you Angels! Your feedback really encourages us to keep on going, dreaming and blending. We love your post and your pictures!

Make sure you get stocked up on your favourites, in case you dont remember, our whites and rosé go down very easy and one of the most frequent comments we receive are ones insisting that 1 bottle was just not enough.

Dont forget to share with all of us what you think, here on this platform!
We also hope you are all following us on IG and ask that you tag us when you post a picture of our wines so we get a chance to see them!!
Cheers to you all.

I've had a few vintages of this wine now and it never disappoints. Brilliantly crafted blend of 4 grapes, making a wine that's refreshing and balanced.

Aromas of fresh blossoms, peach, and some tropical notes of pineapple came through as it warmed slightly. Lots of juicy, ripe fruit on the palate; peaches, pears, white melon, but lemon peel in the finish to bring some balance. Full-bodied and with a slightly honeyed mouthfeel; as I've said with previous vintages, I think it's a touch off-dry, but there's enough acidity to balance that, so unless you like your whites bone-dry, this is definitely worth trying.

I often recommend letting whites warm a little to fully appreciate them, but this is one I think works best well-chilled and straight from the fridge.

Beautifully written review of Aurora! We are truly grateful for sharing your enthusiams for it as well as placing your trust in us that the quality will always offer up a delicious glass of wine! WE are just as excited about the 2024 vintage which should be arriving soon to Naked Wines. It has done very well in the international tasting competitions, already but we are excited to see what you think of it! Cheers.

Lovely weather for a white wine, so tonight we're having David and Jonas Tofterup's La Orphica Aurora 2022. I've had a few vintages of this wine now and it's a winner every time. A great blend of grapes that manages to be crisp and refreshing but also ripe and juicy. Aromas of fresh blossoms, peach and pineapple. Juicy on the palate, some tropical notes of mango coming through, but then a zesty lemon note to balance the finish. As with previous vintages, the wine has a fuller mouthfeel and a ripe profile, making me think it's a touch off-dry, which I think works as there's enough acidity to balance the subtle sweetness.

We're having this alongside the lemon & poppy seed drizzle cake I baked for Jenny's birthday. Sadly Jenny's working all weekend, so we're making the most of tonight.
