Bruno Lapierre's Story
Bruno Lapierre's Story
"I grew-up on our family estate and loved our vineyards and it became quite natural to me to become a winemaker. I trained in Oenology studies in Orange ( small town in the South of France ) and I have been making wine since 1973.
I love the job because I control everything from the beginning to the end. All steps of winemaking are exciting: to see growing the vines, to take care the vineyards, to control the work in the vineyard, the harvest and last but not least the wine-making
I think the wine is so special because of where the fruit is grown. The vineyard is under organic farming. This Rosé wine is issued from parcels of the vineyard positioned to the South and brightly lit by the sun.
My favourite grape to work with is Syrah, because this grape is very well adapted to our climate - gives very aromatic and fruity Rosé wines and good structured red wines.
In the beginning our winery was located the village COUDOUX. Due to the success of our wines the winery became too small and we decided to move out of the village and to build a new and bigger winery in the middle of our vineyards.
The day of the inauguration was a great joy and a very important day for all of us.
The 1st vinification in our new winery was probably my most memorable moment making wine. This well-equipped cellar uses the very latest technology! It is a joy to make wine there."

Provence in a glass! A reminder of summer (we drank this in Feb) to come. Some peach, perhaps a little strawberry too. Delicious.

Pan fried salmon with butter beans roast sun dried tomatoes and fennel. To accompany I chose Rock Angel rose. I only buy this when on 25% off in Waitrose. Very nice with more body and bite than many roses. Naked do several equivalents to Whispering Angel including Chateau Saint Hilaire Bastide Provence Rosé 2022 but if anyone knows a Naked equivalent to Rock Angel I am keen to hear!

It is made of Grenache and vermentino by the same house that make Whispering Angel Phil. It has the usual strawberry and melon flavours of Provence rose with a bit of grapefruit but it is partially aged in oak so has more body and creaminess and is bigger than Whispering Angel. I will let you know when next on offer so you can try!

Thanks Graeme 🙏
I’ve had plenty of Grenache based rosé, but I’m struggling to recall any with Vermentino blended in. Although I do like Vermentino as a single varietal. I imagine the oak will add character and complexity too - you’ve certainly wetted my appetite! 😉
