About the wine
Decadently fruity Châteauneuf-beater!
-
Back in 1961, the eagle-eyed Assemat family recognised the potential of Lirac. A stone’s throw from illustrious Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this insider-secret region makes reds that keep even the most expensive Pape producers up at night!
- Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre blend perfectly to make a vibrant red that’s packed full-to-bursting with red fruits and wrapped up with a sumptuously long finish. It hasn’t touched an oak barrel so imagine a Châteauneuf-du-Pape without teeth-blasting tannins!
- We’ve had the chance to cherry-pick the best of Majestic wines to plug gaps in our range. This wine wasn’t funded by Angels, so doesn’t carry an Angel saving. But thanks to Majestic’s buying power, you still get it at a snip!

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Armelle Barbanson
- Armelle always dreamed of working in wine, and in 1997, her dream came true. Since then she has found herself making wine for several renowned producers in the Rhône Valley and she couldn’t believe her luck that she has ended up alongside Emanuelle and Jean-François Assemat in Lirac.
- The trio work closely together to create wines that will transport you to the very heart of the Rhône Valley. To Armelle, creating her own cuvées, being in touch with nature and seeing the process through from start to finish is beyond her wildest dreams.
- Her favourite grape? Grenache! Its ability to make gorgeous, well-rounded wines that express the vineyard perfectly make it her hands-down winner!
