About the wine
These grapes are the lush, fruity jewels in the crown of Stellenbosch winemaking
- When it comes to New World Syrah, Stellenbosch is a region that should be at the very top of your shopping list. Its high altitude vineyards go hand in glove with the cool ocean breezes drifting in off the Atlantic, to make the bunches of grapes that grow there some of the most abundant and flavourful you are likely to find in SA.
- So it's all comes down to Bruwer, who just so happens to be the man with access to these fabled grapes, and who's job it is to turn them into a wine that does the rather distinguished soil, climate and location they came from justice.
- Lucky for us Mr. Raats is a multi-award winning winemaker and has been in the business for yonks. This syrah looks to be yet another winner - it has a wonderfully plush palate, rich with dark plums and ripe red cherries, leading you all the way through to to a long fragrant finish, completed elegantly by lush tannins.
