Christian Patat Primitivo Puglia 2012

I love a good Primativo and this is one.

Just opened this wine to have with a home made lasagne after laying it in my cooler at at steady 12 degrees since December 2013. No detectable bouquet on opening. Allowed to breath for 1.5hrs. After breathing and bringing to temperature I faintly got strawberries. Really had to stick my nose in the glass to get the aromas which were quite refreshing. On the palate it was incredibly smooth with a coffee aroma. The finish was very peppery a with herbal notes (thyme predominantly - my favourite herb). A great wine and another corker from Christian!

took a very large bottle to a friends party and quite enjoyed it found it very fruity and smooth very easy to drink in fact too easy !!

Just opened. Fuzzy and undrinkable. Opened second bottle. Exactly the same. Really gone wrong this one.

I have a soft spot for primitivo, but if anything that makes me picky about which ones I like...this happens to be an absolute gem. The depth of this wine is special, and makes me think of comfort foods and warming meals like stew and liver and onions!
