Still as amazing as the past vintages. Deep, dark and inky in the glass with great legs. 24 hours after opening, nose has great plum and cherry notes with an earthy oak scent. Loads of very ripe dark fruit to taste and reminds me of the fig jam I made this weekend with hints of vanilla and a VERY long finish of vanilla and slight, dry tannic notes of oak. This is an incredibly bold red and I'd say (especially after 24 hours being opened, but re-corked) it's a very grown up wine and has port-like qualities.

Black fruits, pepper and spice on the nose. Very dark inky ruby colour. Needs some aeration to soften and gel all of the flavours and soften the tannins. Blackberry and dark cherry is my first impression on taste and a slight dry oak tannin included with the ripe sweet fruit, then chocolate/vanilla. Finish starts at first with a little dryness, then straight onto a chocolate/vanilla finalé and is long and very satisfying.

Bags of jammy plum, cherry and blackberry on the nose. Lovely deep garnet red in the glass. Highly recommend allowing this Merlot to aerate and stretch it's legs! To taste after a couple of hours with the cap off (could be less in a proper decanter and shameful that I didn't get mine out for this wine! Sorry Jen!)... black glacé cherries you find on those gateaux chocolatey creamy cakes; ripe plums, blackberries and tart blackcurrants. Beautiful long finish that is slightly dry peppery with undertones of that fruit bomb and mocha (or could be a woody touch 🤔)

Marcelo Bocardo Malbec 2022

Inky, deep garnet red in the glass. Faint hint of blackberries, vanilla and spice on the nose. Allowing this Malbec to breathe does turn this wine into a lovely smooth, morish wine that's great with or without food. Blackberries, cherries and plums are at the forefront with a little driness, that makes way to a peppery spice and a dash of oak. Finish is very long and has a caramel vanilla undertone followed by a little more spice. Have had a few vintages of Marcelo Bocardo's Malbec over the years, and have always been impressed.

Dominic Hentall Primitivo IGT Puglia 2022

Definitely preplan when to open this Primitivo as aeration really helps the fruit come alive, or even better, leave a few glasses in the bottle/corked decanter until the following day 😊 Second evening: Lovely deep dark red in colour. A little bramble and spice on nose, but not a huge amount (doesn't help that I just washed my hands with soap!), but no overpowering alcohol smell either which is great as some wines can smell very boozy! To taste - raspberries and dare I say strawberries(!?)and blackberries with a touch of spice. Finish is incredible after allowing this wine time to breathe - it's long and really evolves into a creamy, slightly chocolatey painters pallet! Was torn between 4 and 4.5... I'd definitely say 4.5 as long as you remember to let this wine open up and flourish!

Beautiful deep dark red tones in the glass, bramble, hedgerow fruit on the nose. I had opened this wine a couple of evenings ago and thought I'd save this wine for for my birthday night 😊 It's now so smooth (was very much like that after an hour or so after opening). Lots of cherry, raspberry, sweet damson plum, blackberries and a hint of spice. Finish is lovely and long with a slight barrel dryness, then black cherry and chocolate. Salute!

11/10/2023 review: I found a patch of Boletus edulis (Cep/Porcini/Penny Bun etc) patch of mushrooms earlier today and also passed a butchers and picked up a Tandoori marinated chunk of lamp rump and thought this wine would be a great match and so right I was!! Lots of bramble on the nose with hint of pepper and chocolate(?) Paired well with the wild pan fried Cep (finished with Wild Garlic butter I made in the Spring and froze) and the marinated lamb, but this wine isn't just a foodie wine as it's stunning on its own too (cheese would also work!). To taste: Plums, cherries and juicy ripe blackberries. Slight, dry tannins. Long finish, dry edge, but also vanilla and dark chocolate. Beautiful wine with lots of depth that takes you on a journey. -------------------------------------- Previous review and wish I'd dated it! ... Possibly late 2022 (excuse the ampersand strange coding with this edit to add my latest review!... NW edit Gremlins are still lurking!!): Lovely deep, dark, inky red wine. Heady nose with red and blackcurrants. Very smooth for such a young wine. Plum blends with black cherry and then the finish slowly tapers off to vanilla or custard (can't quite pin point that part) and then there's a residual dry ending like eating a cube of high percentage dark chocolate (most likely from the hiding tanins!). This is almost comparable to a high end Black Forest Gateaux, but in liquid form (if there has been such a revival... If not, they should've added that to the bake off for the Queen's Jubilee desert along with that lemon roly poly triffle!) I love Grenache and this is a winner! Must get some more for the autumn and winter months as it'd make the darker evenings more enjoyable!

Beautiful ruby, garnet colour that's quite transparent rather than being thick and inky. Redcurrant, raspberry and spice on the nose. Raspberry and cherry foreward, warming spices and a smooth mocha finish. Definitely much needed for a Friday evening after a long week! Often a regular re-purchase for me and have tried each vintage since Naked found Peter, and so glad they met! 🍷 Keep it Juicy! 😁

Always one of my go-to wines. Lots of deep, ripe red berries on the nose. Very dark garnet colour in the glass. Smooth cherries, Damson plums, blackberries and raspberries to taste with a vanilla creamy lingering taste and finish with a hint of tannic chocolate and sloe berries (though not raw sloe (blackthorn) berries as they sap all moisture out of your mouth!! .. More like when you infuse gin with sloes). Beautiful blend 😊

16.01.2024 Opened this wine on Sunday evening and only had just over a glass and decided to move over to red wine 🙈 Finishing the bottle this evening (2 evenings later) and it's really evolved into a tropical fruit forest of a wine! White stone fruit on the nose with grass and mineralogy. White stone fruit (peach and nectarines) and a little juicy, ripe pineapple. Very long, fairly dry finish with flint but also slightly creamy. I think it helped allowing the wine to open up and also not fridge cold. Previous review, sometime in Summer (maybe 2022 during the 40C heatwave 🤔)!... Only the last week or two I've shifted from red to white as it's far too warm in the evenings to be drinking red I've decided! This white blend of Tom's is wonderful and a good step from red to white as it still has a lot of body. Minerality, grass and white stone fruit on the nose. Honeyed taste with creamy peach, but reasonably dry too with a finish of flinty minerals! Nice length at the end. Could see this pairing really well with a creamy chicken pasta based dish, or a good cheese (blue would work) and might even be a match for something slightly more spiced as it has a full body and slight oiliness to not be totally lost. I can see this wine will age well.

Kimbao Sauvignon Blanc 2021

I tend to drink more red wines than white, but having tried several SBs in the past, this is a lovely and crisp Sauvignon Blanc with lots of structure. Straw coloured, tropical fruit and flint on the nose. Grapefruit, hint of pineapple and white stone fruit (peach specifically) to taste with a slight mineral finish. Pity it's been a rainy Saturday afternoon as this would be lovely to enjoy a chilled glass outdoors or at a BBQ! 8.5/10 from a red wine drinker, but more 10/10 compared to other SBs I've had in the past, particularly supermarket, mass produced wines that I feel are becoming the ABC ("anything but Chardonnay") this generation. Pretty much sunshine in a glass to make up for the lack of UK summer this year!
