About the wine
Yiannis's gorgeous Greek zinger, will make you want to do a little dance and then crack open a second bottle
-
When you asked us to shake things up and to track down a proper hidden gem for you, we went in search of something really special. Enter Yiannis, our first ever Greek winemaker. He makes wines in Mantinia, one of the only places on the planet that grows Moschofilero - and with the quality of grapes produced here you can understand why other regions might feel a little intimidated to take on the challenge
-
Mantinia has the dream microclimate for Moschofilero. With a lofty altitude, cool temperatures and refreshing summer showers, Yiannis's grapes are treated to a lovely slow maturation which makes for bags and bags of flavour, gorgeous lemony aromas and a fantastically defined character that you simply won't find anywhere else. Full stop.
-
Bright, zesty, clean and zippy, Yiannis's Moschofilero is a big, deep breath (or sip...) of fresh air. Light but by no means a pushover, it's full of delightful pomegranate and citrus flavours that'll make you want to do a little dance and then crack open a second bottle.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Yiannis Troupis
- You asked for hidden gems, so we went in search of something new for you. We are thrilled to introduce Yiannis, our first Greek winemaker.
- Yiannis Troupis' small family-run vineyard, situated 700m above sea level in the heart of the ancient Mantinia appellation, still does things the old way, lovingly tending the vines by hand.
- Their wines were always gobbled up locally, but Yiannis' dream was for people the world over to taste his wine. In fact he'd just bought a load of new winemaking kit when the Greek economy went over a cliff, taking his expansion plans with it. Time for Angel funding to get to work!
