David Ciry
France
David's Languedoc vineyard is everything a red wine drinker could ever ask for
- David Ciry put pedal to the metal in 2015 when he found a very special vineyard made up of 5 plots of rare and wide ranging old vines. The breathtaking 400 metre altitude of the land combined with the exceptional quality and diversity of these Languedoc vines, made it clear that David was onto a winner.
- Each plot brings something different to the party, but they all work towards David's ultimate goal of making fresh, 'fruit forward' wines. He strikes the golden balance between powerful flavours and maintaining that all important complexity... and to top it all off, he makes it look like a piece of cake!
- The Covid crisis hit at a crucial moment in the development of the winery - after 5 years of back breaking hard work and investment, everything was thrown into uncertainty. We were tipped off to the amazing quality in danger of going down the drain and knew we couldn't let that happen. We can't wait to see what David has in store with a little help from his new found Angles!

David Ciry's Story
David's Story
I started my winery 5 years ago and did a bit of investment, even if I work alone. I even increased the size to get to 7,5ha last year, and created a small tasting area / tapas bar on the domaine. 2020 was supposed to be the first real year of commercialisation, with a bit more volume on middle range wines, and some older top wines.
Covid just ruined the local and the export market. We did not know how long this would last for. It is so hard to work alone in a winery, in the vineyard, doing your blends, pruning, having at the same time some huge financial problems ahead with no solution. You cannot focus on your job that way.
