About the wine
A fruit-bomb explosion from a multi-award-winning South African Syrah specialist
- Kobie is passionate about Syrah, it's the grape variety that won him his first award back in the day - and he's been on a winning streak ever since. He's witnessed firsthand the massive progress South African growers have made with Syrah and is now spoiled for choice when it comes to selecting the best parcels of fruit for his wines.
- This stunning Syrah is nothing short of a fruit-bomb explosion in the mouth with juicy red berry fruit flavours and a hint of rooibos and pomegranate that are typical of Syrah from Walker Bay.
- Global lockdowns have hit the family-run winery hard, but thanks to Angel funding, they can continue to source premium grapes from all over Western Cape and craft their high-end wines.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Kobie and Faisal
- Kobie was head winemaker at South Africa’s ancient Spier winery, with the oldest wine cellar in the land. Faisal was the business brains that transformed Spier into the nation’s most medalled winery in the 1990s.
- They bought a vineyard right next door to Spier, and for years sold them their grapes, which went into Spier’s top-of-the-range boutique wines.
- Angel backing now means they use their own grapes to make a range of game-changing wines that have become cult classics at Naked. If you like trying new wines that make you go, ‘where has this been all my life?’, you’ll love Kobie & Faisal.
