Mischief and Mayhem Savigny-Les-Beaune Les Bas Liards 2020
About the wine
This indulgent artisan Burgundy is exactly what you look for in world-class Pinot Noir
-
Burgundy is pretty much holy ground for passionate Pinot Noir winemakers like Michael and Fiona. It’s got some of the finest parcels of fruit on the planet, and is home to a roll call of the most celebrated wines and winemakers too. And since settling down there in 2004, the Raggs have quickly joined their ranks with stunning, artisan-quality wines like this.
-
This is quite simply exactly what you look for in an outstanding Pinot Noir. It’s soft, supple and indulgent, with ripe flavours of red cherry, strawberry, walnut and spice, and a beautiful creamy texture from careful ageing in special French oak barrels.
-
There’s not much to go around, because Michael and Fiona like to keep things super small scale in the winery, so they can give their juice the attention it deserves. But what they have sent is of such high-quality. If you’re a lover of fine Burgundy, you don’t want to miss this.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Michael and Fiona Ragg
-
The Raggs have been producing super-posh Burgundy kit since 2004, when they first crossed the channel to turn this famous French region into their home away from home.
-
Burgundy is one of the most celebrated yet traditional wine regions on the planet, which can make it very tough for outsiders like Michael and Fiona to break through. But having started from square one, they’ve now grown their Mischief and Mayhem winery into a fully-fledged Domaine with some of the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the world. They're practically honorary French at this point.
-
While the locals might scratch their heads at some of the new and exotic approaches this English pair take in the vineyard, one thing they definitely recognise is the quality of the wines they’re making - it’s truly artisan, hand-crafted, world-class stuff.
