To show you the value you're getting as an Angel...
We regularly benchmark a selection of our wines against up to three comparable wines on the market. The Market Price is based on the price of those wines.
What do we mean by benchmark? We taste them blind against our own wines, or we use our market knowledge (over 40 years between us) to set an industry standard Market Price.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Market Price, or it's not your cup of tea, we'll add a credit to your account. For more info, see our FAQS.

About the wine
Ultra-stylish Bordeaux made with premium old vine Merlot in a winery designed by Gustave Eiffel
- You'll find Edouard's vineyard in the small region of ‘Entre Deux Mers’ (between two seas), which as the name suggests, sits between the Garonne and the Dordogne river, just 20km from Bordeaux and 25km from St Emilion.
- In 2018, the region had almost no rain from mid-July to September but thanks to the firmly-rooted vines, the vineyard didn't suffer from the drought and produced incredibly juicy grapes. The old Merlot vines were particularly bountiful, and were prime for turning into a seriously special wine.
- It's very intense on the nose, with strawberries, and light coffee notes. Upon tasting, it starts fresh and then develops beautifully to reveal the true power of this wine. You'll find soft yet intense tannins which linger elegantly long after leaving the mouth.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Edouard Le Grix de la Salle
-
We’ve been looking for more classic Bordeaux wines for ages, but finding the right winemaker to make them has been like finding a needle in a haystack, so much of the region is dominated by traditional old estates that just don’t fit the Naked mould. Thankfully a tip-off from our Bordeaux rebel Olivier Cazenave led us to Edouard, a 3rd generation winemaker at his family’s Chateau Le Grand Verdus estate, and as soon as we met him we knew we’d found our needle.
-
His name may sound like something out of a French nobleman’s court, and his family estate is practically a castle, but Edouard is actually a really forward-thinking guy who understands the need to balance the new with the old. He’s passionate about organic farming and working with nature, and has been introducing loads of changes in his vineyards to encourage the local wildlife to flourish among his vines “It’s no longer about fighting nature, it will always win. It’s about working with it.”
-
It’s when you taste top-quality stuff like Edouard’s that you understand why Bordeaux is one of the most famous wine regions in the world. From his access to first-class grapes, to his understanding of the technical side of winemaking, to his ability to create uniquely delicious, classic French wines. If you’re a Bordeaux fanatic, Edouard’s is a name to get really excited about.
