Tonight we had cod fillets brushed with oil and curry powder on spicy puy lentils with Pak choi and a dollop of yoghurt . Paired with a delicious Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2022 from Small and Small. Lovely wine.
Tonight we are having Chinese crispy duck pancakes and possibly a bit of cheese later. We are drinking a birthday present from my daughter, a non-NW US Zinfandel. It has been aged in bourbon barrels for some time apparently, which should give it an intriguing flavour.

Good luck with the wine Rob - food sounds great but I've tried reds aged in bourbon barrels and didn't float my boat!

The wine doesn't have too much bourbon in the flavour to be a pleasant drink. It balanced nicely against the hoisin sauce and crispy duck.
I think one of the very best things about Naked is the direct interaction between winemakers and customers, and my wine and food pairing tonight is a good example.
Based on a recommendation by Franck Massard from a post three months or so ago, tonight I’ve paired up his Bellesa Perfecta Priorat 2019 (mine is an earlier 2016 vintage) with roast lamb, creamy mashed potatoes and vegetables.
Absolutely delicious! 😋
I hope you enjoy seeing these photos, Franck.
Cheers! 🍷

What a gastronomic feast Phil with a wine awaiting my attention in my 'cool cupboard' (the 2019)!

That looks and sounds superb Phil. The Priorat is a lovely wine as well. Have a good evening 🍷

Too right Phil. The interaction with the winemakers is one of the best things about Naked. It is assisted by groups like this and the fact they have sooo many wines that are a step or three up from the competition.
That looks absolutely gorgeous... 🤤

Hi Phil, your photos are great! Do you have a professional camera? My photos of my phone rarely look as appetizing as these! Thank you for sharing.
I’m glad you enjoyed the suggestion, it’s definitely the season for hearty winter meals as this.
Also well done for having patience to store the 2016 vintage. I tasted it maybe a month or two ago and it was still giving a lot of vibrant fruit character.
Thank you to Phil and to all for continuing the interaction. I agree with Rob, it’s a feature of Naked that is making it unique in the wine world. I love to hear from you all so please keep posting!
Cheers and happy 2025!
Franck.
Enjoying Scott Petersons ROX Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2021 tonight. Full on in the face rich chardonnay with fresh green apple, peach, pear, caramel and vanilla flavours plus a slight tang of acidity. Best let the wine breathe and warm to open up the heady aromas and palate. Great value in (and outwith) the January sale and was enjoyed with a smoked haddock fish pie. A 5 star wine!
Finishing up the remainder of the Dominic Hentall Terra Calda Primitivo 2022 that I opened last night. It is still lovely and fruity. Pairing with Lamb & Mint sausages and roasted vegetables. Happy Sunday everyone 🍷
Was out last night at golf society dinner where I had a very palatable pinotage from the pub. However tonight, I've gone for my current favourite grape. Small and Small Pinot Noir 2023 - lovely, light and fruity. Have a good evening all.
Adam Barton's Barossa Valley Shiraz 2022 proved a great pairing with Yotam Ottolenghi's Portobello Mushroom Steaks with Butter Bean Mash from his "Plenty" recipe book, yesterday.
Rabbit & Spaghetti Barossa Valley Shiraz 2022
I hope everyone is having a great weekend and enjoying their wine?

Sounds good, Paul 🍷😋
I’ve got a Franck Massard red lined up for this evening which I’ll post about later.
Just a little late to World Pizza Day...
...Website developments taking things backwards, wrong (IMO) use of some social media channels, but in the end you can't fault the quality of the Naked wines!
Earmarked an Iberian Peninsular red - non-naked competitor #1 (L) for tonight, but Friday night sample put me off....Next choice non-Naked #2 an Italian Chianti Reserva for my pizza - flat and bland !
Like Bill I looked at Dom's Terra Calda, but that was 18.00, so left it in the rack!
Best bit of tonight's fare - the pizza! Cheers all - you live & learn 🤣🤣

I'm not sure what is/was on your pizza, Russell - but I have discovered *Nduja (an Italian spreadable spicy sausage) in recent years and love the stuff! *In Dodds Restaurant, Ambleside.

@YOUNG LOOKING Paul Lawton...I had to do a double-take, as I thought I'd seen that name before!
...Pizza was primarily beef, with lots of gooey mozarella and just a touch of spice....As noted, much better than the accompanying wine - cheers!
Tonight we drinking the gorgeous Herencia Altes Cirereta. It is accompanying our Moroccan lamb tagine with a layered roasted veg special from the Hairy Bikers - tumbit, I think they called it.

Wow! The food was splendid! The wine was a lovely match. It's definitely one that I always try to have a spare. 😉

Our tumbet had tomato, aubergine, courgette with garlic and red pepper. It was melty, as was the marinaded lamb... 🤤
